2023 Creativity Roundup

Joy & creativity

Rounding up personal projects & times that brought me great joy and ignited my creativity and inspiration throughout the year.

I'm a creative spirit, a builder, a storyteller. Looking back on this year, I've never been more aligned with myself; recognizing whether it be a project, a recipe, a party, or a campaign... I was created to create.

We grew dahlias from tubers for the first time this year. There was something incredibly beautiful about planting, picking, then digging up & dividing them that made me smile every day. The uniqueness of each flower, their low maintenance nature, yet delicacy; a true art form.

I celebrated a year of sobriety deep sea fishing off the WA coast this summer. I gave up alcohol for 75 days for personal & health reasons, questioning whether it served me; 16 months later, I never looked back. Quieting the noise of external pressures, societal expectations & chasing validation allowed me to turn inward and give myself permission to think, dream, create and show up authentically in every aspect of my life.

I'm happiest when building, making & crafting. I am inspired daily by the things around me and love recreating things with a personal flair that fit my aesthetic. I've never met a craft project I didn't want to replicate, but I sure have met a project that didn't turn into what I expected it to look like. Learning to embrace the uniqueness of the outcome you're creating and the journey along the way, is half the reward.

Liam turned 3 & this Pinterest mom went HAM. I love to host and create memories in my home with the people we love. I have a love/hate relationship with balloon arches and icing cakes in weird shapes, but I love a good theme, channeling energy into every little detail then watching people's eyes light up.

Instant pot, crock pot & air fryer lovers unite! I channel positive & negative energy or stress in the kitchen. Turning a pantry of misc. items into something delicious brings me great joy, although I make a huge mess in the process. My recent love for the air fryer knows no bounds though!
